Canadian Council of Chief Executives Salutes the Memory of Former Chairman Rowland C. Frazee
July 31, 2007
Thomas d’Aquino, the Chief Executive and President of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives (CCCE), paid tribute today to the life and memory of Rowland Frazee, a distinguished Canadian business leader and former Chairman of the CCCE’s predecessor organization, the Business Council on National Issues (BCNI).
In saluting a departed friend, Mr. d’Aquino said, “Rowland Frazee was an exemplary Canadian: a patriot who served his country in war; a business leader who shepherded Canada’s largest financial institution, the Royal Bank of Canada, through turbulent times; and a humanist who was among the first to embrace the idea of corporate social responsibility.”
“The Canadian Council of Chief Executives is a particular beneficiary of Rowland Frazee’s commitment,” said Mr. d’Aquino. “He played a leading role in the 1980s in building the organization and in helping to shape policies that contributed greatly to Canada’s evolution as an important economic player in the world. Most notably, he was an early proponent of free trade with the United States and was a tireless advocate of fiscal responsibility.”
“Council members past and present salute Rowland Frazee, a Companion of the Order of Canada. His legacy serves as a reminder that integrity, courage, hard work and humanity remain cornerstones of effective leadership in today’s world.”
