Canada: Far From Broken But Dangerously Complacent

Excerpt from an address to the Harvard Club of Ottawa, January 30, 2024   The final chapter “Reaching for Gold” in my recent book “Private Power Public Purpose” challenges Canadians to capitalize on our country’s many unparalleled advantages and aspire to make Canada “the best country in the world in which to live, work, invest and grow”.  In no-holds-barred language, I discuss the major challenges we face including assaults on political civility and Canadian identity, and the problems in the domains of immigration, the economy, energy, the environment, healthcare, foreign policy and defence, and Canada – United States relations.  I conclude that with bold leadership matched with good public policy we can resolve our problems and that only complacency stands in our way.    Read the full address: Canada: Far From Broken But Dangerously Complacent
